  • Ethnologue - Languages of the World
    From Who We Are: "The Ethnologue database has been an active research project for more than fifty years. It is probably the most comprehensive listing of information about the currently known languages of the world. Thousands of linguists and other researchers all over the world rely on and have contributed to the Ethnologue database."
  • Joint Language University (JLU) NEW!
    Available only to USG and military affiliates (with .gov or .mil email addresses), JLU allows single sign-on access to free, leveled, self-study language modules (Transparent Language; Tactical Language & Cultures; LangNet), foreign language news (SCOLA, Library Press Display), and links to a multilingual on-line dictionary/web reader (WordChamp). To register, users may link to the site (above) or contact : JLU_Admin@webtrain.com.
  • LangNet NEW!
    A repository of more than 6,000 free leaning and assessment modules from ILR levels 1+/2 to 3+/4 in less commonly taught languages and in some major imperial languages from the National Foreign Language Center. Students of accredited U.S. secondary schools and universities may use these for self-study; teachers at these institutions are free to use these materials in their courses. Department chairs, deans or principals must request a free account for their institutions and a password will be provided for school's authorized users. USG and military affiliates may access via JLU above.
