Most ILR sessions are hosted by the Foreign Service Institute at the George P. Shultz National Foreign Affairs Training Center.

Register for the ILR by emailing your full name and organization/institution to jacksonfh@state.gov by the Tuesday before the ILR.

To get to the Shultz Center, follow the following directions:

The campus is located at the junction of Arlington Boulevard (Route 50) and

South George Mason Drive in Arlington, Virginia.  You may enter the campus from Route 50 or from George Mason Drive.

If you are traveling east on Arlington Blvd., toward Washington D.C., take the George Mason Drive off-ramp and then go straight across at the light on George Mason Drive.

From Washington, DC, or Rosslyn, travel west on Route 50 and exit on the right at George Mason Drive, then turn left at the traffic light at the top of the ramp, and then take an immediate left at the next light onto the onramp to Route 50 (East), so you are headed back east.

Get in the right lane and drive past the entrance to the National Guard Center on your right. This is followed immediately by the Shultz Center entrance, also on your right.  Enter here.

The Guard at the Gatehouse will ask you to show a photo-identification and will check your name against the list of registered attendees.

Everyone in the car must either have a State ID or be on the list of registered attendees.

Get a parking pass at the Gatehouse.  Visitor Parking is available in lots P1 and P2 on the right past the Gatehouse.

After parking, proceed to the pyramid-shaped Visitor Center, where you will again show your picture ID, have your name checked against the list of attendees, and receive your Visitor Pass.

The ILR meets on the third floor of the Cafeteria Building at the Shultz Center, just past the Visitor’s Center.
